Hall of Paintings

Location

This is in the Metroplex U area. It opened on October 31st, 2012, and had some extra halloween-related encounters for the first day. See Hall of Paintings (Halloween 2012) and Hall of Paintings (Halloween 2013) for details.

Upon first entering:

grandstairs.jpg

The lobby of the museum is a massive hall, shielded from the elements by a thick layer of glass. You can see a grand staircase winding up to another set of exhibits.

The hall is lovely, but only sparsely inhabited at the moment. There are just a few visitors and a roughly equal number of guards.

Or, if you've learned about the back entrance from Suzy upstairs:

Scaffolding100.jpg

You check out the scaffolding behind the museum. It's weathered, but still looks reasonably safe.

Assuming the window at the top of scaffolding is open, you should be able to slip in easily enough. And it's more convenient than the main stairs.

  1. Climb up - Enter Hall of Sculptures
  2. Head in the front - Enter Hall of Paintings
  3. Never mind - Walk away

Climb up

insectcollection.jpg

You take a deep breath and climb your way up the scaffolding. It's a little tiring, but you don't ever feel in danger.

You emerge into the hall of sculptures near the insect display.

(Moves you to the Hall of Sculptures)

Head in the front

grandstairs.jpg

The scaffolding looks like a lot of work, so you head in the front.

The museum is no more occupied than usual, with so few students visiting that the sparse security guards almost outnumber them.

Never mind

You decide you have better things to do than head to the museum right now. It's not as though you have an education you're neglecting… and even the students here seem to avoid this place like a toxic waste site.

BrassKnuckles25.jpg Combat Encounters

                Opponents                 Encounter Text Notes
Eclipse.jpg MuseumstairsRider.jpg As you pass near the grand stairs to the second floor, a mounted shape bears down on you. You can faintly hear someone screaming, as though from a great distance, when the skeletal thing draws its sword. Only after climbing in the moor, and then running away(/losing?) to the rider
Eclipse.jpg parasolwoman.jpg Moving through the hall, between the shifting paintings, you see a lovely woman walking ahead of you in the same direction.

The fact that she's carrying a parasol doesn't much bother you. Kids on this campus wear and carry far stranger.

No, what bothers you is the blank expanse above her jagged mouth when she turns to face you in the hall. That isn't normal.
Eclipse.jpg phonexpainting.jpg Flames rise up around you, twisting into the form of wings and a great beak. You have only a moment as it swooped in to recognize the flaming bird you unleashed… or spawned. Shows up only once each time you burn the moor, win, lose or run away.
MidgardSecurityGuard.jpg You hear a harsh voice behind you, just above a whisper. "I'm engaging the suspect."

So much for reading you your rights and engaging in witty repartee like the old cop shows.
