Description | Sadly, toxic waste isn't an uncommon sight in Metroplex. However, this handful seems a little different. It feels like it has a strange potential, particularly in the way it slowly flows towards other objects. Perhaps it'd do something interesting engulfing them. For now, though, it's just a blob of toxic waste that constantly bubbles, releasing strange fumes. |

Feeding
When used:
The ooze slowly flows as you watch, as if looking for something. You imagine it's hungry, but it seems intent on ignoring anything you'd consider edible.
"Feed it" link next to drop down list - you can feed it any piece of equipment except for a few exceptions (quest items, unearthly items, and a few more exceptions - see below).
Or, if you don't have anything to feed it:
You don't seem to have anything to feed your ooze.
Feeding something to the ooze:
You feed your <item> to the ooze. It slides over the <item>, dissolving it, before settling into a new shape.
Fed | Ooze becomes | Effects | Extra Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Any hat | hungry ooze caul | +3 Etheric Defense +10% Will |
|
Any weapon | hungry ooze lash | +4 Reflexes | Can give Toxic Lash |
Any offhand | hungry ooze | +2 Etheric Power +2 Fire Power |
|
Any shirt | hungry ooze cloak | +2 Stealth Power +10% Stealth Power |
|
Any pants | hungry ooze pants | +3 Evasion Power | Can give turns of Ooze Symbiosis |
Any gadget | hungry ooze egg | +2 Chance of Etheric Encounters |
If you feed it an item of the same kind again (eg. feed it another hat when it's a caul) you get the message:
Your ooze doesn't seem to want that.
Feeding it an item worth 0.21 to 0.40 gives the additional message:
You feed your <item> to the ooze. It slides over the <item>, dissolving it.
The ooze moves around, stretching into a variety of bizarre configurations before settling into its new shape.
You found: <one of the above>
Feeding it an item worth 0.41 to 0.60 gives the additional message:
You feed your <item> to the ooze. It slides over the <item>, dissolving it.
The ooze burbles wordlessly after digesting your <item>. Depending on your mood, you can easily anthropomorphize it as happiness or an upset stomach.
You found: <one of the above>
Feeding it an item worth > 0.60 (tested up to 1.00) gives the additional message:
You feed your <item> to the ooze. It slides over the <item>, dissolving it.
The ooze makes a strange vibrato trill, flowing into several unnatural configurations before settling on a new shape. If you didn't know better you might think it's dancing.
You found: <one of the above>
All items without a stash value cannot be fed to the ooze. See stash page for a list of equipment.

Remaining Mysteries
From Podcast 12:
there's an underlying mechanic that hasn't been found, along with related content.
From Podcast 26:
The messages aren't there for your health - I'd look into the differences and why that's going on.
If you understood what the messages where trying to tell you, you'd have some good leads on finding stuff.
(We now have a pretty good handle on the feeding mechanics, but it's unclear if we've found all of the related content understanding them should let us find.)
