Initial Text

Swirls of dust trail through the stagnant air and the babble of moving water seems to come from every direction in the echoey garage. The swirls, at least, seem to be coming from one place: a dark corner of the garage taken over by titanic mushrooms, some so large they seem to be supporting the ceiling.

Small lights dance in the unnatural forest, as though beckoning you to follow.

Summary of Choices

  1. Follow the lights - exploration progress (more with ??) or with Fae Sight gain 25 Fae Blessing
  2. Harvest smaller mushrooms - gain 3-4 or burger cap, concrete mushroom, yellow shelf fungus, wormeaten mushroom up to 5 time per day (up to 10 with mushroom spade); unlocks Mushroom Warrior combat for the day

Follow the lights

SewerFairy.jpg

The light leads you on a chase through the mushrooms, before losing you in the larger garage. This thing feels like it just goes on for miles.

Or, with some additional condition?

SewerFairy.jpg

The light leads you on a chase through the mushrooms and into the garage as a whole. You manage to keep up well enough until it disappears into a crack barely wide enough to slot a cred chip into.

Or, with Fae Sight:

The light leads you on a chase through the mushrooms, then the garage as a whole, bobbing and dancing. It feels strangely purposeful, almost like a guided tour, as it stops to jangle around particular burnt out cars and muddily-painted pillars.

You've gained 25 duration of Fae Blessing.

Harvest smaller mushrooms

Warning: Doing this once seems like it may lock out trade with the Waddling Shape, and twice causes Mushroom Warrior combats to start occurring.

You pluck some smaller mushrooms from the trunks of the larger mushrooms.

You found: 3-4 of burger cap, concrete mushroom, yellow shelf fungus, wormeaten mushroom

Or, with mushroom spade equipped:

You put your spade to work carefully trimming some smaller mushrooms from the trunks of the larger mushrooms.

You found: 3-4? of burger cap, concrete mushroom, yellow shelf fungus, wormeaten mushroom

Or, after harvesting more than 5 times today:

There are plenty of mushrooms here, but they're all huge. They're not coming down easily or usefully.

On the bright side, mushrooms don't exactly take forever to grow back.

Head towards the sound

fairy%20fountain%20100.png

You make your way through the forest to a burbling fountain gleaming white and silver in the darkness. The endless sound washes away at you and your sense of time, until you eventually come to much later and much calmer.

You regain 33-40? hit points!

Or, with a fishing pole:

Among the giant fungus, you find a strange fountain burbling with crystal clear water. Noticing that it doesn't have an apparent bottom, you do what anyone would do: pull out your fishing pole and cast a line.

You found: 3-4? of deactivated ID, fountain trout, mop, soaked newspaper, washed coins, water worm, wormeaten mushroom

Or, sometimes, with a fishing pole and high test:

Among the giant fungus, you find a strange fountain burbling with crystal clear water. Noticing that it doesn't have an apparent bottom, you do what anyone would do: pull out your fishing pole and cast a line.

Wow, you snagged something heavy. It's quite a workout just hauling it up.

You found: fused clay

You found: 2-3 handfuls of washed coins (sometimes)

You've earned 5 XP in Strength

Or, sometimes, with a fishing pole, high test, and swimming worm bait?

Among the giant fungus, you find a strange fountain burbling with crystal clear water. Noticing that it doesn't have an apparent bottom, you do what anyone would do: pull out your fishing pole and cast a line.

Wow, you snagged something heavy. It's quite a workout just hauling it up.

As you pull the line back, jagged mandibles are the first thing to crest the water, followed by ridges of pale scales. The sculptures around the fountain tremble and crack, pushed aside by the tremendous bulk.

A great worm emerges, dripping water and barely able to squeeze through the fountain's opening.

Plant a Sprouting Seed

Where the mushrooms crack into the concrete, there's a fine layer of grit that's… basically soil between the pale rootlike structures. You bury the seed in grit and ropy hyphae.

Unlocks the Concealing Vines after 10+ Daily Bloodshed; allows you to check the seed below.

Check the seed

vine%20background%20100.png

Where you planted the seed, vines are now twined around the mushrooms' hyphae and the chunks of broken concrete. Although their rate of growth is exceptional, the vines themselves seem thin and fragile.

Well, they can't possibly be getting enough sun down here and if there was any nutrition in the concrete, it probably went into those giant mushrooms.

Still, it's growing and that's pretty cool.

You've earned 2 XP in Will

Or, after killing enough people and getting the Concealing Vines encounter:

vine%20tunnel%20100.png

Thick vines choke at the mushroom they cling to, leaving it barely visible. If anything, it looks like the vines are winning their contest for… whatever passes for nutrition down here.

You've earned 4 XP in Will

Avoid that madness

You shake your head and walk away from what you can pretend is just a hallucination.

(Walk Away)
