See if he gathers fire

You flip around, eventually finding a pair of sketches detailing the hero sticking his hand into the fire then writhing around on the ground in flame. The detail is so great, you're not surprised when you can smell flesh burning.

The real shock comes as your hands start to blacken and flake apart. There's no pain, just a seamless deconstruction as you lose consciousness.

You've gained 5 energy of Severely Charred

Lose all hit points.

(or, if you've taken a skull)

Near the end of the book, you find a sketch of the hero dipping a skull into the flames. The next page shows him holding up the skull to admire it, flames still burning within.

(Turns your human skull into a blazing skull)

Search for him swimming

Deep in the book, you find an earmarked page showing the hero taking a swan dive into a lake of fire. It would be funnier without the graphic details of his burning flesh cracking on the opposing page.

As the burns begin moving onto your body, it seems like a hallucination at first. There's no pain, really, only a faint tingle. Eventually, though you pass out and find yourself in a charred spot on the floor.

The book sits between your cracked hands, unmarked.

You've gained 20 energy of Severely Charred

Lose all hit points.

Look more closely

You spend longer than you'd like to admit admiring the lake's flames. Every tiny curl of fire and speck of ash is lovingly detailed.

In fact, you're not really sure how long you spent staring at that. The date didn't change on your comm, so that's good, at least.

You've earned 3 XP in Perception

Try to find fishing sketches

After flipping through the book page-by-page, you're shocked to find there aren't any pictures of the hero fishing from the lake of fire. It's so obvious! Who wouldn't include a picture of it? He obviously must be mad!
