Almost hidden in a corner, you find a painting of a woman carrying a parasol and looking away from you. It's in the style of painting from back before they had cameras for portraits.
Something about her pose, probably the closeness and her relaxation, makes you feel like something's about to jump out behind you.
And with a museum guidebook equipped (overrides results for having a parasol weapon equipped):
Although the painting looks old fashioned, the guidebook identifies its model as one Emily Davers, a recent graduate. Apparently she's "looking towards the future," which doesn't seem like what the painting is trying to show at all. Maybe that's where artistic criticism comes from.
Or, with a museum guidebook equipped and Stellar Appreciation:
Although the painting looks old fashioned, the guidebook identifies its model as one Emily Davers, a recent graduate. Apparently she's "looking towards the future," which doesn't seem like what the painting is trying to show at all, but you have things on your mind other than artistic criticism.Or, after looking at ~30 paintings?:
Although the painting looks old fashioned, the guidebook identifies its model as one Emily Davers, a recent graduate. Apparently she's "looking towards the future," which doesn't seem like what the painting is trying to show at all. It's obviously wrong, maybe on purpose. Whoever painted this was interested in the subject… creepily interested in the subject, not thinking about any future.
You feel pretty confident now that you've run out that train of thought.
You've learned a new Skill: Art Appreciation
You've earned 6 XP in Reflexes
Or, with a parasol weapon equipped:
It looks like she's ready to start fighting with it, which seems absurd.
Or, with a parasol weapon equipped, if you drank an orange juice sample the previous day:
It looks like she's ready to start fighting with it, which seems… like a surprisingly good idea.Or, with a parasol weapon equipped, and Art Appreciation and without an artbook:
It looks like she's ready to start fighting with it, which… well, might be worth a try to see what the artist was thinking at least.Or, with a parasol weapon equipped, and Open Parasol already known:
It looks like she's ready to start fighting with it. You take a moment to study up on her technique. You learned a new Technique: Open Parasol
And with a raging effect:
It's hard to concentrate on the painting with the blood pounding in your ears, but you still pick up some good ideas.
