Offense = 1-3 You batter the file system, deleting swathes of files. They seem to regenerate from backup as quickly as you delete them, though, which is a pretty neat trick. 1+O*
Offense ≥ 4 You batter the file system, deleting swathes of files. They try to regenerate from backups, but you're able to cut that link.

At least for now, they should stay down.

View ≥ 1 First time per day:
You search through the archive, finding some simple tips and tricks. It's nothing world-shattering, but there are a few things worth thinking about.

Next time that day, if you made an an absurdist wonderland post:
You search through the archive, discovering that strange post you made is still up… and the #1 post on the entire site. Giving it another once over, it doesn't sound like you at all.

It's not that you're not insightful, but you're not usually that insightful.

Next time that day: (after June 24 2016)
You search through the archive, finding some discussion about Novos's upcoming releases.

The discussion focuses on how they're trying to stay ahead of the hackers and if that's even possible. But there are also some rumbles of how the corporations are forcing everyone over to NovOS, intentionally phasing out or even breaking old operating systems.

The conversations collide with a question about whether the corporations have built in security flaws to give them access to NovOS systems. Several posts after that are deleted.

Next time that day:
You search through the archive, finding out more about Novos's sponsors.

It's a pretty impressive list. Strike that, it's a pretty mind-blowing list. It's hard to imagine who had the pull to get so many corporations moving in lockstep.

OmniTech and Zaibatsu are the main sponsors and just getting them at the table is something of a miracle. And you don't have an exaustive list of the second tier corps, but Midgard is definitely on there. Even some of the little guys like Metros are signed on.

Normally getting one company to change their tune is bad enough, but it's hard to imagine the backroom dealings that had to be involved here.

Further times that day:
Reading through all the archives like that is interesting, but definitely has its limits. In this case the limit is just that you've run out of articles and won't get much out of rereading them right after you got done.

  • Offense takes priority.
  • View takes next priority.
  • Command, Defense, and Null count as Other.

* If you attack the files with less than 4 Offense, Unsubtly is equal the amount of Offense you used, plus one. At exactly 4 offence, the cut the link message raises unsubtly by 5. Needs spading if this increases with further offense.

History

The second message of the day has changed over time as Novos has rolled out. Prior to the June 24, 2016 update the messages were:

You search through the archive, finding some discussion about Novos's release schedule.

It looks like the first wave, primarily targeted universities and "select students," a phrase the author seems hellbent on repeating as many times as possible. That's definitely started, although a lot of smaller schools and "select students" haven't gotten their copies yet.

And, originally:
The next phase would seem to be a rollout to the internal systems to the corporations themselves.

Or, after the April 14th update:
The next phase, currently underway, would seem to be a rollout to the internal systems to the corporations themselves. After that, the sky's the limit… they seem intent on pushing Novos out to every site on the Net.

Or, after the June 7th update:
The corporations themselves seem to be on board already. Rumor has it the next step is corp-sponsored schools giving mandatory Novos training. The commenters seem split as to whether that's common sense or an invasion of basic human rights.
