Description | This bulky piece of equipment finally seems to be working. At least it powers on when you test it and waits for input, so that's something. It's probably best to set it up somewhere stable. Lugging it around while it's running seems like a bad idea. |

Uses
When used, gives this message:
This device apparently works by firing ridiculous amounts of radiation at organic material, somehow breaking it down into its component parts. Lo assured you that it worked, so apparently all there is to do now is dropping something in and seeing what happens.
Or after turning in the Eclipse residue to Lo:
This device fires ridiculous amounts of radiation into the reaction chamber, hopefully knocking something interesting loose. It's not an exact science, but you've gotten some good results for Lo.
Then:
Analyzing an item takes 1 Energy.
What do you want to analyze?
* Only if you have a capacitor array, and you lose the array if so.
Note: soaked Eclipse and stone spider chitin can give 1-2 of their respective samples.
Full messages
Trying to analyze nothing gives:
Although the air in Metroplex does have a number of interesting impurities, you're pretty sure this device is intended to analyze biological samples.
Otherwise, it gives the following plus one of the messages below:
You drop your <item> into the analyzer and break it down into its component parts.
Crystal Slab Fragment / Crystal Spike / Glimmering Crystal Chip / Hound Crystal
The crystal shimmers in the reaction chamber. Arcs of electricity and pinwheels of strangely colored light play across its surface as it breaks down into a pile of finer crystals.
Even once the excitement has stopped and you extract the crystals, they're painfully hot to the touch and glow with a faint, sickly green light.
You found: fine hound dust
Ectoplasmic Sample
You watch as the ectoplasm slowly diminishes in the reaction chamber, shrinking down until eventually nothing remains. The display on the analyzer unhelpfully produces a list of common atmospheric gasses and the trace pollutants found in Metroplex's air.
Fisher Serum
The serum breaks down rapidly, evaporating into nothing. The display shows "Human Cells (14% certainty)".
Flask of Tears
The tears boil and burn away as the analyzer breaks them down. It kicks back a list of components.
You scan through it as it completes the final analysis: water, various lipids, immunoglobins, sodium, urea… it doesn't mean a whole lot, but nothing sounds too weird.
The analysis comes back as "Human Tears (67% certainty), Mammalian Tears (98% certainty)". Huh.
Generation Zero Sample
The seeds crumple within the analyzer, blackening and disappearing. A few grains of fine white powder remain, along with a surprising short file for analysis.
You found: Eclipse residue
You found: seed breakdown
Ghoulish Sinew
The analyzer has isolated several proteins from the sinew. Most are common in humans, but one seems unique.
You found: ghoul protein
Ghoul Teeth
The analyzer has isolated several proteins from the teeth. Most are common in humans, but one seems unique.
You found: ghoul protein
Hefty Capsule / Liquified Eclipse / Tailored Eclipse
Even after a full run, there's still a powdery residue in the analyzer.
And for tailored Eclipse:
In addition the residue, the analyzer suggests there's a blend of several other chemicals that burnt off normally. The ones it can identify are corporate mood enhancers or their street drug equivalents.
You found: Eclipse residue
Hound Dust
The crystals shimmer in the reaction chamber. Arcs of electricity and lights of a color you can't quite name play between them.
As you watch, the crystals break down into smaller and smaller crystals. By the time the analyzer has run it's course, all that's left is a fine powder that's painfully hot to the touch and glowing with a sickly green light.
You found: fine hound dust
Kraken Ink
The ink bubbles and glints strangely in the light. As the analyzer continues, the ink boils down into a clear sludge.
You found: ink extract
Lake Serpent Sample / Loose Scales / Maze Fang / Serpent Venom Gland
The sample turns grey and collapses to ash in the reaction chamber. The final protein readout matches what you thought at first glance: a mix of fish, amphibian, and reptile traits that shouldn't exist in the wild.
First time:
Nothing was salvageable, but it's able to download a detailed analysis to your comm.
Further times time:
As you've come to expect, the machine gives you a database of the protein analysis.
You found: protein database
Large Spider Legs
The spider legs turn grey and collapse to ash in the reaction chamber. The final protein readout seems like nonsense: far more mammalian than spider. Even the chitinous-looking outer coating seems to have more in common with fingernails than true chitin.
Eventually, a few motes of glittering white powder is all that's left. There isn't enough to actually collect, but the analyzer does identify it as the same thing it extracted from the Eclipse earlier.
Larval Acid
You drop your larval acid into the analyzer and break it down into its component parts.
The acid bubbles and breaks down into a greasy, bubbling blob in the analyzer. It's… not pretty, but it seems strangely resilient.
You found: charred blob
Mutant Cell Sample
The cells writhe and change under the withering, invisible radiation of the emitter. After a few minutes of careful monitoring, the whole mess has been reduced down to inert ash and some carefully collected oil.
You found: toxic oil
Octopus Ink
The ink bubbles and glints strangely in the light. As the analyzer continues, the ink boils down into a clear sludge.
You found: ink extract
Personal Serum
You drop your personal serum into the analyzer and break it down into its component parts. The serum breaks down rapidly, evaporating into a tiny pile of powder.
The display shows "Human Cells (32% certainty)".
You found: serum powder
Petrol Sludge
The sludge rapidly breaks down into its component parts in clouds of steam and gouts of flame, both helpfully contained by the reaction chamber. Eventually, all that remains is a mote of glittering white powder.
Unfortunately, there isn't even enough to collect and the analyzer only provides a note at the bottom saying "unidentifiable trace components… 0.1%."
Or, if you've analyzed Eclipse-derived stuff before:
The sludge rapidly breaks down into its component parts in clouds of steam and gouts of flame, both helpfully contained by the reaction chamber. Eventually, a few motes of glittering white powder is all that's left.
There isn't enough to actually collect, but the analyzer does identify it as the same thing it extracted from the Eclipse earlier.
Personal Serum
You drop your personal serum into the analyzer and break it down into its component parts. The serum breaks down rapidly, evaporating into a tiny pile of powder.
The display shows "Human Cells (32% certainty)".
You found: serum powder
Regrowing Tendrils / Withered Tendrils
The tendrils writhe and smoke under the emitter's invisible radiation. After a few minutes of monitoring, the tendrils have been reduced to inert ash and some carefully collected oil.
You found: toxic oil
Toxic Worm
The worm writhes and smokes under the emitter's invisible radiation. After a few minutes of monitoring, the worm has been reduced to inert ash and some carefully collected oil.
You found: toxic oil
Shocking Organ
As the analyzer goes to work, the organ disintegrates. Its material shell falls away and withers to ash, but a tiny spark remains, more electrical than physical.
With a capacitor array:
You capture it in a capacitor array as it begins to dissipate.
You found: shivering capacitors (Lose a capacitor array)
Otherwise:
You can't figure out a way to capture the spark fast enough. It dissipates into nothingness.
Secret Heart / Sludge Heart / Trash Golem Heart
As the analyzer goes to work, the heart disintegrates.
Silk Strands / Spider Eggs / Spider Skein / Spider Venom Sample
The sample smokes within the reaction chamber for several minutes, diminishing until only grey dust remains.
You found: spider ash
Soaked Eclipse
Even after a full run, there's still a powdery residue in the analyzer.
You found: 1-2 Eclipse residue
Sprouting Seed
The sample withers and smolders. After a few moments, it's reduced to a pile of black ashen residue.
You found: plant residue
Stone Spider Chitin
The chitin smokes for a few minutes within the reaction chamber, slowing collapsing to grey dust.
You found: 1-2 spider ash
Thorny Vine
The sample withers and smolders. After a few moments, it's reduced to a pile of black ashen residue.
You found: plant residue
