Stack with him
He lets you do a bit more of the "heavy" lifting. There's only so heavy you get with foam bricks, but he professes an allergy to hard labor.
In any case, with you lifting and him arranging the bricks, you actually get a good section of wall up. It probably looks better than it holds up, but nobody's going to come around tearing them down, right?

Discuss decorations
You pull out some things and brainstorm. He shrugs "can't go wrong with webbing. Everybody's afraid of spiders. I mean, I guess I'm okay with them, but there's a reason Midgard makes their war machines look like them."

Or:
You pull out some things and brainstorm. He seems surprisingly excited about draping the walls with hooked chains. "They remind me of this great art installation we had. I didn't get to go, but all my friends say it was fucking sick."
He looks downcast for a second. "I hope everything's okay with the artist."

Or sometimes, with ivy in inventory:
You pull out some things and brainstorm. He pauses on the fake ivy for a second. "There's something kind of creepy about ivy, don't you think? I guess it's because you only see it in period films, pulling everything down with its weight. Even my parents' enclave isn't rich enough for the real stuff… that's for the really wealthy, you know?"
He looks off for a second and drops his voice. "And those people are always a little scary, you know?"

Knock him down
You rush in, knocking bricks aside as you do. He seems shocked, torn between defending himself and running.
(Fight a hipster)
Let him build
You leave him to stack his bricks.
