Encounter Conditions

After finding a hole in the security by either (?)

Initial Text

The first sentence is always:

You survey the view from the opening you found.

The next section depends on how far you've penetrated into the Fang's defenses. Options are:

You're at the edge of the cave, towards the entrance from the sewers.

or

You're towards the edge of the cave, in an area faintly illuminated by the Fangs' jury-rigged lights.

or

You're at the edge of the Fangs' ramshackle buildings.

or

You're walking among the Fangs' buildings now, not far from a filthy body of water that must connect with Lake Metroplex.

or

You're in the thick of the Fangs' settlement, right along the water's edge.

The last part will differ depending on how many guards you have killed and/or distracted.

The place is crawling with guards. One wrong move could bring a whole swarm of them down on you.

The Fangs are definitely out in force here.

or

The guards around here are mostly buzzing with useless activity, chasing after shadows.

or

There are some guards, but they're sparse enough you might be able to just slip by.

or

What guards are around seem to be quite distracted.

Thankfully, the guards are pretty thin out here.

Creep quietly

You stay low to the ground and creep past the Fang guards. None of them seem to notice you as you creep further into their territory.

You stay low to the ground and creep between a pair of Fang guards, but one of them pivots towards you suddenly, drawing his gun. The other joins in as soon as he traces his companions aim back to you.

Dash through

You wait until both guards are glancing away, then dart through, crouching into a tumble before they can turn back around. One looks around like he might have heard something out of the ordinary, but neither sees your new hiding place in the shadows.

You've earned 3 XP in Reflexes

(I succeeded with 0 stealth power and 3(8) reflexes)
(At the first checkpoint, I succeeded with 0 stealth power and 4* reflexes (*but increased to 5 because of the XP gained at the encounter))

You wait until both guards are glancing away, then dart through, crouching into a tumble before they can turn back around. One of them turns his head at exactly the wrong moment and, seconds later, both are firing at you.

You wait in silence, giving the guards the time they need to create a perfect opportunity. Well, at least you thought it was the perfect opportunity. The guards turn back far earlier than you expected, sighting you with their guns.
