Passing through the docks, you hear Officer Stone's familiar voice coming from a nearby security office. There are at least a few other people in there with him, along with an occasional mechanical whine.

Choice Text and Results

Charge in

(if not etheric)

You charge into the room, finding a meeting between Officer Stone and some Fangs. That's not what stops you in your tracks, though.

It looks like Stone's earned enough money under the table to buy a guard drone the size of any three people in the room. That might be a problem.

You charge into the room, finding a meeting between Officer Stone and some Fangs. That's not what stops you in your tracks, though.

Along with Stone and the Fangs, there's a gigantic spider, towering over anyone in the room. Stone periodically pats it appreciatively and the Fangs stare at it with a hint of fear, but not nearly the amount justified by the monstrosity looming over them.

Sneak a look

You move to a higher vantage point, trying to get a clear line of sight into the office. Something must have gone wrong, though, as you hear a klaxon from inside.

A whole crew spills out, starting with security guards and Fangs. Stone and a spider drone that barely fits through the door bringing up the rear.

You move to a higher vantage point, trying to get a clear line of sight into the office. Something must have gone wrong, though, as you hear a klaxon from inside.

A whole crew spills out, starting with security guards and Fangs. Stone makes his way out, having lost some of his swagger, followed by a massive spider formed of black stone that seems to be following his commands.

It takes some serious acrobatics and a lot of stealth, but you manage to find a perch overlooking the office. The first thing you notice is a massive drone, shaped like a spider. Officer Stone pats it appreciatively while it idles.

Meanwhile two men in Fang colors are talking to Stone and his men. Everyone seems interested in the conversation except Stone, who's staring off into space.

(With sufficient stealth power and etheric)

It stands over the proceedings, clicking one jagged leg against the floor. Officer Stone pats it appreciatively while it idles.

Meanwhile two men in Fang colors are talking to Stone and his men. Everyone seems interested in the conversation except Stone, who's staring off into space.

Nobody seems particularly interested in why there's a giant goddamned spider in the room, but who knows what they might be seeing.

You steel yourself, then jump in to the midst of the meeting. In shock, one of the security guards shoots a Fang enforcer in the face.

Well, that's one down.

Eavesdrop

Sounds like the Fangs are trying to blackmail Stone into helping them set their Eclipse trade back up. Stone half-listens, playing with his new spider drone, then asks them if they can match Big M's offer.

There's an uncomfortable silence, although stone never says what Big M is offering. Eventually everyone splits up and you're forced to abandon your hiding place and head back out towards the docks.

Officer Stone drags himself off the ground and prepares a grenade to hurl at you. He stops and coughs, then looks down to see the spider drone's leg that's been driven through his chest.

He coughs again and slumps to the ground, unmoving.
