or after defeating the Freed Snowman in the aftermath of Christmas 2010,
or after defeating the Snowmonstrosity in the aftermath of Christmas 2011 (but the encounter wouldn't appear until 1.1.2012?).

Sometimes appears even when the Snowmonstrosity combat is unlocked. Details unknown.
