Examine the Bodies

with Trauma Tech?

The corpses are rather striking, although most would say nauseating. The flesh has run from their bones, leaving a vast puddle of bloody liquid. The bones underneath are more or less intact, but cracked in places.

More remarkably, their possessions seem to be undamaged, other than being left to soak in whatever remains of their flesh.

You remember something like this… you stop for a second to think, then pull out the trauma reference. Yes, there's a tiny mention of something like this under the "Slags radiation" section.

Apparently, "burst exposure" can dissolve the flesh while leaving clothing and bone largely intact. That's not a very comforting thought.

otherwise

You've examined a lot of wounds… most of them your own, but these are rather striking. It's as though the flesh was melted right off the bone and even the bones themselves cracked.

But whatever did that was gentle enough that their clothing is still intact. Even their electronics are fine, save their comms which seem to have been wiped remotely.

Whatever did it is certainly outside your experience, but bears some further study.

Take their stuff

You pick through the mass, trying to get as little gore on you as possible… which seems like a lost cause.

And, with an air filter:

Most of their gear is in fine shape, although the radios they carried all seem to be fried. You grab some things, glad you decided to cover your face.

You found: 3-4 of: basic scope, heavy pistol, gas mask, light armored vest, Midgard MK9, MSPSSP key, security visor, gas grenades, Midgard riot shield, Southside lab notes

You've gained 10 duration of Dripping with Gore.

Otherwise:

Most of their gear is in fine shape, although the radios they carried all seem to be fried. You grab a couple things before the scent overwhelms you.

You found: 1-2 of: basic scope, heavy pistol, gas mask, light armored vest, Midgard MK9, MSPSSP key, security visor, gas grenades, Midgard riot shield, Southside lab notes

You've gained 5 duration of Dripping with Gore.

Lay them to rest (Good (1))

There's no way to bury them here, but you move them to one of the cells and arrange them beneath a sheet. It takes a while to move them, but it's nothing you can't handle. The worst part is really just trying to avoid covering yourself in their remains.

The trek back and forth gives you a while to think. You've rarely seen Midgard security officers be anything but heavy-handed and cruel. All the same, it's hard to imagine they willingly sacrificed themselves to protect Midgard's secrets.

And, ultimately, did it accomplish anything? If whoever did this was trying to kill you, they obviously failed.

Or, if you used the OMEGA ORDER

There's no way to bury them here, but you move them to one of the cells and arrange them beneath a sheet. It takes a while to move them, but it's nothing you can't handle. The worst part is really just trying to avoid covering yourself in their remains.

The trek back and forth gives you a while to think. You've rarely seen Midgard security officers be anything but heavy-handed and cruel. All the same, it's hard to imagine they knew that their life could be ended by a simple computer routine.

You set the thing off, sure, but what is so important that you're willing to liquefy an entire facility of your own employees to protect it? Especially at the heart of a city where you literally own the police and all the major news outlets?

Walk by carefully

Yeah, there's certainly nothing more anyone can do for them.
