Uses
You find a sheet of notes with descriptions of children, each paired with a talentless sketch.
(and, if you met the King of the Fae): One of the descriptions sounds like that child you met in the cave, although the sketch doesn't bear any resemblance.Below the descriptions a jotted note reads "Dock Lights - Kidnappings?"
Stuck to one of the pages is a bloodstained scrap of paper. One side of the scrap is a medical chart.
When you peel it off, you find the other side has some gibberish scribbled on it. It's obviously incomplete, but equally obviously isn't any language you're familiar with.
or if you know how to Release the Hounds, this line is replaced with:
When you peel it off, you find the other side has some gibberish scribbled on it. It's incomplete, but it looks very similar to the incantation you use to summon the hounds. The page it was stuck to details the mysterious death of a young patient in a locked cell. From the description, she had her throat torn out.
A note at the bottom of that page simply says "check the drones."
Whoever wrote this has an extensive collection of notes about eye-related incidents. It seems that several have torn their own eyes out, while others are merely obsessed with them.
If the author has any idea why, they aren't sharing. From the sounds of it, the patients' only real common factor is that they're patients here.
Amid the notes, you find transfer and demotion paperwork for someone working with Midgard Security. The reason is listed as "Bringing a drone into contact with the patients, despite explicit instructions."
Someone's taken a large amount of notes about patients' comments about Midgard. It seems some of the patients claim a surprisingly detailed knowledge of the company's inner workings, especially for indigents living in Southside.
Most of the sections are just cross-referenced, but a few have notes like "new patient - no contact with Thrivaldi" and "could they have overheard us discussing the funding from Valkyrie?"
You find a sheet of notes, marked with a grade on top… well, a letter in a circle written in red ink. It certainly looks like a grade, but you're not familiar with any schools that hand out J's.
The notes themselves describe an unlikely sounding patient… a man with scorpion-like stingers emerging from his back. A few detailed sketches show the stingers themselves, which the author mentions only superficially resemble those of scorpions.
The final line of the sheet reads "Suggest Immediate Transfer."
A few of the pages detail an autopsy. Reports suggested the deceased was burned to death over the course of a few moments.
The examination shows starkly different results, however, more in line with a fatal case of frostbite… where much of the patient's mass has gone missing for an unknown reason.
Something about the author's tone suggests that they're familiar with cases of this nature. There's no real shock or even a search for possible answers, just a recital of facts on a required report.
A carefully laid out page of notes is dedicated towards questioning a dozen different patients about "the Herald."
From the description of their responses, the patients are as impressed with her as they are uncooperative.
The recommendation at the bottom of the sheet is to "Send in a Midgard Security interrogator. This is outside my specialty."
You find some release papers signed by two "parent(s) or guardian(s)," releasing someone to Midgard's care.
They'd probably want to know what's going on in this facility, but the signatures are nothing but meaningless squiggles.
Hidden among the boring sheets of records, you find a handwritten note. The handwriting is barely legible, but the note's heading is "Eclipse" which catches your attention.
Once you parse through the handwriting, the next line reads as "Midgard is seeding the populace, why? Looking for a specific reaction? Under .5?"
The rest of the note is a rant about being lied to, but it doesn't say exactly who's doing the lying… presumably someone at Midgard.
Or (after reading 6-7(?) notes):
Hidden among the boring sheets of records, you find a handwritten note. The handwriting is barely legible, but the note's heading is "Eclipse" which catches your attention.
Once you parse through the handwriting, the next line reads as "Midgard is seeding the populace, why? Looking for a specific reaction? Under .5?"
The rest of the note is about Midgard Special Projects. If this note is right… it sounds like almost all the research they're doing is Eclipse-related now and they're the ones who requested the facility be created.
(allows you to complete the Hel's Suspicions quest)
