Undodgeable Techniques
During combat, you can use Evasion techniques to dodge out of the way of damage, normally reducing some or all damage taken. However, there are some situations where where dodging out of the way is ineffective - because the opponent used tricky maneuvering to attack from an unexpected angle.
This gives the message:
<Player A evades.>
<Player B attacks.> The attack came from an unexpected angle, avoiding <Player A>'s defense.
Situations where this applies includes:
- Any technique with Cut The Lights Fortifications, under some circumstances?
- Burrowing Arm, while underground and with a digging arm.
- Demonslaying Blade, sometimes?
- Dueling Shot, possibly only as Opener with antique dueling pistol
- Green Shot, while outdoors
- In the Sights, with a scope equipped and at Long Distance
- ReflexCoil Kick, ???
- Single Needle
- Spectral Murder, when your Etheric Power > opponent's Ranged Defense
- Top Hat Trick, with trick top hat equipped
- Zip Shot, following enough melee
Notes
There are some evasion techniques that cannot be bypassed in this way - see Non-Undodgeable Evasion Techniques.
See also: Restrain, which reduces the effectiveness of evasion vs. certain techniques, but does not bypass it altogether.
